3-8-11 : Lemon-Limes Second Album Log

It was one busy music weekend. I worked on the compilation and got some copies ready to ship. Then, i picked up Kevin Chanel at DIA so we could record the new Lemon-Limes album. The sessions went very well. We nailed 17 songs altogether. After laying down the bass and drums(it only took 2 hours), we started the monumental task of overdubbing walls of guitars and vocals. The sessions lasted well into the next morning. Fueled by an overabundance of tequila and thc, we rocked the basement on a winter night.

At around 8pm, my buddy and musical brother Anthony Davis showed up and graced the session with some kick ass guitar playing. Mr. Davis nailed 12 songs in less than 3 hours Saturday night. It was a productive session with good vibes. The goal was to finish the whole thing in one weekend. We started vocals around 1 am and got through a few songs before Kevin got tired. Bass player extraordinaire Tim Deemie showed up to hang out and put guitar down on 2 tracks.

The next morning, Kev and I tackled the rest of the guitars and the vocal takes. Kevin did a great job considering the terrible headache he was enduring from the high altitude and lack of water. Nonetheless, we powered out and even got some rough mixes for Kevin to take with him. We both felt the weekend was a total success and lots of fun. Great guy, that Kevin Chanel.

The album will be out in the next few months. We are not going to let this one die like the first one did. Kevin and I have agreed to put this out as a split release with Anonymous Collective and Scheming Intelligentsia. Good as gold.

Today, Anthony Davis and I finished up his new EP. We only needed to track two vocals. It went fast and painless. Anthony is a true joy to work with in the studio. No nonsense and plays from the heart. Plus, the guy usually nails stuff in one take. The songs sound great as do the vocals.

The EP will contain four songs penned by Anthony and was recorded over the past few months here at I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement. It should probably be available in a few weeks. So stay tuned!!!!
